JEEP SAFARIS

How about discovering a totally different Marmaris, travelling on dirt, dust and stone paved roads on a jeep safari tour? The tours start early in the morning and, after passing through forests, villages and streamlets, you end up in abandoned coves. You have a swim, then have a feast of fish, gözleme and ayran. You cool down in icy cold spring waters and then return in the evening to where you began your trip. Adventurous holidaymakers get a chance to taste the excitement of the jeep tours, which generally cover the Bozburun Peninsula and the shores of Gökova, taking in Orhaniye-Kızkumu, Hisarönü, Bozburun, Çiftlik, Turunç. Akyaka and Akbük.

On one of the jeep safari tours you get to go via old roads to villages where technology has not yet fully arrived, visit magnificent coves that can only be reached by sea, and, most important of all, have the chance to see what nature has given us close up while revelling in the safari spirit.

Some of the jeep safari routes are as follows:

Route1

Between 9:00 and 10:00 in the morning, the passengers gather and are transferred to the tour’s start point. The group leader gives a briefing to the participants on the tour and route as well as providing all necessary warnings and information.

- From İçmeler the tour heads in the direction of Osmaniye, arriving at the village of Bayır after driving through the Palamut Mountain and Camiyanı district.

- After a break in Bayır, the tour either goes through the village of Turgut or else straight to the Turgut Waterfall.

- From Turgut Beach, depending on the season, the jeeps drive in the direction of Orhaniye-Kızkumu either by following the seaside road or on the old village road from Keçbükü through the village of Hisarönü and then on the forest road through Asparan-Kazandere before arriving at Asparan for a break.

- From Asparan, the tour returns to İçmeler via Kızıldağ Mountain.

- After a short speech at the gathering point the tour group disperses

Route 2

Between 9:00 and 10:00 in the morning, the passengers gather and are transferred to the tour’s start point. The group leader gives a briefing to the participants on the tour and route as well as providing all necessary warnings and information.

- From the Kızıldağ road the tour heads to Asparan. After a short break in Asparan, the jeeps drive in the direction of Kazandere, at times going through streams before arriving at Hisarönü for a break at Hisarönü beach.

- Leaving the Hisarönü beach the tour follows the seaside road through    Orhaniye, getting to the Turgut Waterfall for a visit.

- After leaving the waterfall the tour travels along the main road heading to the village of Bayır for a lunch break.

- Leaving Bayır the tour moves on to Çiftlik Cove, stopping for a swimming break.

- After sampling the delights of Çiftik, the jeeps then drive in the direction of the Kayalıyüzü district before returning to İçmeler through the Camiyanı district and along the Palamut Mountain road.

- After a short speech at the gathering point the tour group disperses.

Route 3 (EVENING)

Between 17:00 and 17:45 in the evening, the passengers gather and are transferred to the tour’s start point. The group leader gives a briefing to the participants on the tour and route as well as providing all necessary warnings and information.

- From İçmeler, driving along the Kızıldağ-Asparan road and through Kazandere, the tour arrives at Değirmenyanı. Later, after a short trip on the Marmaris-Datça road, they take the turn for Börbüdet.

- Arriving at Börbüdet Beach the tour stops for a lengthy swim. According to the season, the tour then moves on to the best vantage point to watch the sunset. After sundown, the jeeps then travel along a dirt road before getting onto the main Marmaris-Datça road around the Bencik region. From the main road the tour then goes to the coast at Hisarönü.

- The passengers then have dinner at a predetermined venue before gathering on the beach to be entertained by live music.

- After leaving Hisarönü beach the group travels to the village of Hisarönü and along the Asardağı forest road, coming to Asparan. Here it turns onto the Marmaris-Datça road and drives on to Marmaris.

- After a short speech at the gathering point the tour group disperses.
