Coves and beaches near the centre |

|
If
you want to see the beauties of Fethiye and not limit yourselves to the
beaches of your hotels or pensions, you will find lots of places to visit.
You can pick areas other then the well-known beaches that get very crowded.
If you have your car with you, you should visit the region of the Oyuk Tepe
(Mount). If you fancy a bit of sportive activity you can do the trip on foot.
Pass through First and Second Karagözler, continue on past the port and keep
going right towards the sea. You will first get to Aksazlar Cove and a bit
further up is Samanlık Cove. Keep going past the Letoonia Holiday Village,
which has been constructed so as to be in full harmony with the nature of
the cove and peninsula. The view is picturesque and we suggest you take a
photo of the sea from above and the caiques in the water. Everywhere there
are pine trees and the fresh pine scent in the air you are breathing. On the
bottom of the cliffs are coves that follow one another. You can get down to
most of these. In one of them there is a buffet and toilet, this cove has a
beach as well and it is very beautiful. The road follows the point that is
in the shape of a peninsula and ends in Kalemya Cove. However, if you are
not staying at the Hillside Beach Club you are not able to use the beach.
You will have to be satisfied by viewing it from above from the hills. You
continue from the other side of Kalemya and get to Boncuklu Cove. Boncuklu
is very suitable for aqua sports and swimming. The return trip is not along
the seaside but is beautiful too, running between pine trees and on a tarred
road. You can also do this trip by boat. As for Turunç Pınarı Cove (Spring
of Citrus) you can get there by sea as it is a popular stopping point of the
Blue Cruise and the daily boat trips and is also accessible by road. Turunç
Pınarı Cove is to the west of Kalemya Cove. The hills of Turunç Pınarı are
full of trees and in the cove there is the makeshift Balıkçı Osman’ın Yeri
restaurant that has sweet drinking water spring. Those who come here can buy
fresh fruit and vegetables, choose from tables laden with fresh fish and
enjoy the animated conversation of Balıkçı (Fisherman) Osman. Those who stay
for dinner should ask for olive bread along with the steamed or grilled fish
and salads of seafood such as jumbo shrimp and crabs. In the making of bread
with olive they use olives, onions, cheese, parsley, dill, mint, tomatoes,
green pepper and cumin. If you ask for it they prepare one that has shrimp
in it. The bread is cooked in a firewood oven. |
