The Virgin Shores

The shores of Mazı do not get crowded even in the hottest summer days. Its long beaches and rocks are available both for swimming and fishing. You can visit other coves by motor boats that you can rent from the quay. The first cove you can get to by land is Feslikan. Then comes Yalıkoyu, Akarca, Çatal, Çamlık and şeytan Deresi and after all these you can visit the historic site on the Kisebükü. This blue cove, where there are the ruins of a bath, cistern and church is an indispensable stop for touring boats and yachts. In few of the coves in the vicinity there are springs of cold drinking water. To go into the sea in these crystal shiny waters under the shade of oleander trees is a pleasure. If you become friendly with the local fishermen you can join them in the early morning on their trip to collect the nets they laid earlier. If you get bored of this quiet style you can go to bars, discos and live music spots of all types in Bodrum, just 50 kilometres away. .

How to get there?

If you are to go to Mazı in your own vehicle after you pass Güllük and Milas on the left from Güvercinlik while heading towards Bodrum you see the turn to Mumcular. Take the turn and enter Mumcular and then turn right where you will see sign for Yeniköy and Yukarı Mazı. After you pass these villages the asphalted road going through the pines forest will lead you to the village of Aşağı (lower) Mazı. The total driving distance is 31 kilometres.

You get to the İnceyalı seaside by heading down after the sign saying Pansiyon (pension). The distance between Mumcular and Aşağı Mazı is 20 kilometres. However, the two kilometre asphalted road down from Aşağı Mazı to the beach of İnceyalı is very winding.

It is also possible to get to Mazı by minibuses that run between Milas and Mazı.

What to eat?

The nets that are left in the sea in the evening are collected in the early mornings. Among the fresh fish still alive when brought to the seaside restaurants are a wide range of types, including large bonito, red coral fish, large grey mullet, red mullet and octopus. You will also love the soups of scorpion fish and do not forget to taste sübye drink that is made of crushed almond and lemon seeds or rock melon seed that are softened in milk and mineral water.
